For more realistic simulation of melees we needed to have tin or lead figurines. The standard figurine is about 2.5 mm (1 inch) in height. If you want to paint such a piece of tin you'll need a real thin brush with 10 to 30 hairs. Furthermore you need special water based colors. They allow gradients and they don't smell.

Between two and five hours are needed for one little figurine. About 80 have been painted by us and friends (credit goes to Marcus Zeller). We imported them from the US because they are very expensive in Germany (3-20 Euro per figurine).

Draconians

Draconians are mysterious lizard creatures. Tales tell that evil wizards have magicked them from dragon eggs. Draconians are very evil: they are malicious fighters, spellcasters and they dissolve into acid when killed. Or even worse: they explode or turn to stone. Adventurers must be very brave when attacking those creatures.

Shambling Mound

A Shambling Mound doesn't really exist in the world of Krynn. But we like this creature: it is highly decorated with fresh colors. On a white undercoating several layers of green have been applied - to achieve some sort of gradient.

Iron Golem

An Iron Golem is an artificial humanoid body which has been animated by an elemental spirit. It remains under the control of its creator. They are very rare. In combat Golems fight fearlessly and can only be hurt by magically enchanted weapons.

In spite of those details we had to paint it tan :-) It really looks great with inverted colors. Check it out!

Minotaur and Ettin

Minotaurs are based on Greek mythology. The name derives from the isle of Minos. Minotaurs are either cursed humans or the offspring of minotaurs and humans. In the world of Krynn they live near the Bloodsea and most of them are fisherman. They worship Sargonnas, an evil deity.

Ettins, or two-headed giants, are vicious and unpredictable hunters that stalk by night and eat any meat they can get their hands on. They are very primitive and crush trespassers without question.

Mind Flayer and Wizard

Mind Flayers are told to manipulate their enemies' mind. Their powers are formidable and they feed on the brains of any creature it encounters. Mind Flayers have infravision and can communicate via telepathy.

Wizards are humans who have dedicated their lives to arcane powers. High concentration allows them to cast powerful spells. Depending on their alignment their robe is colored black, red or white (in the world of Krynn).

Melee

Melees and combats are part of most role playing games. The strength of adventurer parties is tested and they can apply new spells and tactics learned. Experienced players try to avoid melees.

Well trained warriors kill kobolds with one single strike - Kobolds are nothing but a nuisance. They are a cowardly, sadistic race of short humanoids that vigorously contest the human and semi-human races for living space and food. But they can live around 135 years.
